Contradictions Of Musical Genres

It's hard to be unique when anything you could do or any sound you could use has already been done before. However, regarding this timbre difference in jazz and classical, I would think a saxophonist (or any instrument) playing in a large group with more then two of the same instrument would want to blend in more then be unique (unless he/she is soloing). Modern dance, especially interpretive dance, is much more choreographed then you would normally assume.
