Modulational technique

Featured Replies

I've been thinking and thinking about this concept:

When you have a series/motif of notes following each other with a certain rhythm and melody. And then you get another series of notes with the same rhythm and melody but in a different chord/tonality.

I was wondering how it was called again, this compositional technique. I completely forgot that word.

Sequence?

No, that's not it.

Uhm... I think what you're talking about actually IS a sequence. The figure repeats, usually rising or falling, through a series of chords right?

My god! You're right!

What a long time ago. It actually is a sequence. I thought the word was something more fancy, but it was that simple.

:P Glad to be of assistance :)

Perhaps the more advanced name was scalar transposition.
