October 22, 200718 yr Hey all, Here is another jazz tune written by me called Melophobia (meaning "The Fear Of Music"). I wrote this for my high school jazz band a few years ago and just got around to updating it. Here is the midi file created from Band in a Box like my previous combo tunes. My band was able to make a recording of this so I will upload that as well as soon as I can. This tune has a cool bass line that doesn't show up in the midi version. Melophobia.MID
October 22, 200718 yr Author So here is the recording that was made with my school band between 2004 and 2005. Its a little rough because we had such a short time to record but the quality is really good because we recorded in Jim Henson Studios (school had a connection). By the way, I'm playing vibraphone on the recording but unfortunately I didn't have a solo. Melaphobia - Putfile
October 22, 200718 yr Damn, that's good! The recording didn't sound rough to me... Thanks for uploading!
October 22, 200718 yr I could only listen to the midi 'cuz I have dial-up... Some interesting chord progressions in there... From what I can gather from the midi, there's a very active piano part... The melody's not very clear, in my opinion, but that could just be the midi version messing things up... When I get a chance to listen to the audio version I'll say more... ~Kal
November 28, 200718 yr I am very happy to know that you tune jazz in young age. It was good effort from you. I cannot hear this melody.
December 21, 200718 yr You know, I don't know what you all are saying; I can hear the melody fine. I like how you achieve a good ECM feel but not enough that you'd scare off people who don't go for that kind of thing, know what I'm saying?
December 21, 200718 yr Author Thanks for the comment, I kind of know what you are saying. So it sounds like artists from the ECM label? I guess it has a Keith Jarrett inspired progression in it.
December 31, 200718 yr I think it has a good feel to it. The Vibe solo in the middle is tasty. Is this for a jazz combo or a jazz band? I hear no horns, I definitely think you could play them up a bit more of they are there.
