Sorry guys, I don't know what happened there, it seems as though I posted the message 3 times? I don't know, i'm still getting used to this forum. Anyway, the files were to big for .mp3's so here are the MIDI's. Let me know what you think.

EDIT: Oh btw, the percussion track on "The Chivalry" was composed by AsaLothario and Hale-Bopp.

Great stuff! Sounds very much like video game music; I think that's probably what you were striving for. At any rate, I think you succeeded.

The Chilvalry: The first part captures the epic adventure feeling (very Zelda-ish). Nice little harmonizations. The melody from 1:00 to 1:30 sounds like its from "The Graduation Song" by Vitamin C or something like that... I think. Basically it was good, though. The slower spookier part was very good.

Thunder: I really liked this one! It was very interesting. The prelude part was composed very well, methinks. Then the drums and everything else cuts in at the perfect time: I had just heard enough of the first part when it started. The piano changing to the more rockish stuff reminds me of "Komm An Dir Nicht Weiter" by Rosenstolz. You are able to vary it enough to make it pretty interesting. I don't think Thunder is quite how I would've titled it, however. To me, I really liked how it had the energy and anger... but if you really listened it sounded very sad. Don't know if that's what you were thinking but that's what I got. (The perfect emotions for finding your mother dead and then declaring you will get revenge?? )

Thanks for the critique, actually the reason I called it Thunder was because I was living in Florida at the time I wrote it, and there was probably a storm outside, I don't know I don't think too hard about naming songs, I just think of the first thing that pops into my head. I believe "Thunder" was once called "Scissors" then I changed it for some reason. At any rate, I don't have idea who those people are whom I sound like...Vitamin C, the German name etc. but I hope they're good :D And yes I was going for the video game style on "The Chivalry" and maybe a little bit on "Thunder".

These are really neat! I especially like how the transitions are handled. I agree with xyc that parts of the melody in 'The Chivalry' do sound pretty familiar - but they're used effectively.

Thunder is very nice, but I question some of your writing for the individual parts. Why the three guitar lines, all in different octaves? It seems you were composing this for how you wanted it to sound, when in reality, an electric guitar and a good amp can get you that sound of darkness, grunginess that you seem to have been looking for. Also, the bass part is power chords. This is unusual, and will probably produce a muddy sound. This is the E. Bass part of course. And having so many bass instruments will mud it up anyway. This goes for the piano as well. I think this piece could use a key change up a few keys, to make it less muddled, and it could use some variating in my mind, but that probably wouldn't fit in the style you've chosen.

Wow. I really like your Chivalry piece, although the chords are not always very interesting. But some of them are, and that's more than I can say for most video game music! Chivalry dies out somewhere in the middle, and I don't get the transitions. The middle section is too repetitive methinks. You've created a nice sound, it's just kept too simple.

You need to throw some more ideas around, get creative! (I feel like I say this to everyone!)

The Thunder

Not sure what game this reminds me of, but it's a nice piece either way and very fitting as video game music.

The Chivalry

Wow, this just screams of video game music. I feel like I'm playing Zelda... the original one for Nintendo... way back when. Actually, it is sad to say this, but I almost feel that a lot of people on this board will be a bit too young to have played that console. Either way, i loved that damn console and am kicking myself for selling it back a couple years ago.

Oh right, the music! I like it!!! It reminded me of those late nights I had when I was younger trying to beat that game. Damnit, I never did. Nostalgia can be so bittersweet.

Keep up the good work and maybe my kids will one day be listening to your music while they play "Zelda 82: A link returns to the past... again" (This time he forgot his keys in the dark world and the sorceror has them... what will he do? Find out! Buy the 82nd installment of Zelda today!!!!!!!!!!)

Yeah when I wrote that one, I defenitely didn't expect the bass player to play power chords :) I would change it if I ever got a rock band together to play it, I was writing it how I wanted it to SOUND, not be played. The style I was going for was more of a loop while you're reading through text boxes for a boss in a game. I wasn't trying to make it too complex, just something that loops for a few minutes before the boss battle begins...something like that.

Nope, I actually stole it from my ex girlfriend, when we broke up, she just happened to leave it at my house. Sucks for her :) I guess you could say i'm "borrowing with no intent to return" :)

hahaha! Good good stuff. Hang on to that puppy... Selling it won't do you any good, as I've found out. I miss that monotone MIDI music... the bad graphics... the blowing until your faint into the catriges... goood old days. Brings a tear to my eye, and if there were a "Crying smilie" I would use it right ____ <- there.
