Sonata for solo Cello

Featured Replies

Ciao Messieurs et Madames,

Here a sonata for solo cello - you only get the raw music, but when I performed it with a world class cellist he of course broke all the chords, and played it wonderfully. I had great applause and many good responses for it. The first and third movements are devils to play.

very nice piece! difficul task to compose for solo! fine result.

by the way, i'd like to try an arrangement or second voice for the 3rd movement, if you don't mind of course, just for fun.;)

regards!

There are some killer double stops in the 1st and 3rd. I am not a string player but if you say you got a guy that can play this, then great. I love the cello and this is a fine piece to exhibit its characteristics.

Ok, if we lived in the 18th century, I would call this perfect. If one likes this idiom, one would naturally like this sonata.

Well, being in the 21st century, this was very non-poisonous for me. IMHO, when the cello repertoire has reached the point of having sonatas like the ones written by Schnittke, Kodaly, Hindemith, Shostakovich etc., such endeavors are better off as exercises in a specific idiom.

My opinion, ok? Cheers!
