This is one of the main reasons this site can not grow.Ron Just to clear up any misunderstandings or misconceptions about posting/not-posting, you might consider that some poeple are not responding because in the past, any comments not deemed complimentary enough were dismissed forthwith. I don't think that people ignoring these threads will bring about the downfall of this forum. I can tell you that for myself, I have no interest in listening to a piece and trying to put together a critique based on my years of experience both as a performer and as a teacher, only to have it ignored or rejected out of hand and find myself accused of snobbism or academicism. Therefore, to make life painless both for myself and others, I prefer to ignore those posts from members who have no interest in what I can bring to them. Why offer something if you know it will be rejected? This is the only thing I will say on the subject, and the only reason I bring it up is that you are besmirching the good-standing of this forum and its many productive community members. If you feel that people are ignoring your posts, then by all means, feel free to go elsewhere. You may let us deal with any eventual downfall of our forum.

Criticism based on a technical aspect of craft is one thing. Criticism based on subjective perception is another. Both are valid. I have rarely in the past made subjective comments regarding people's posts of their work here. Particularly if it was music that did not appeal to me. I have attempted to keep my posts on as objective a level as possible. I don't think anyone can accuse me of this. People are free to disagree with subjective impressions. I believe this. It doesn't mean I have to LIKE it when someone says they don't like my work. Like any artist I am fond of my creations and believe in their worth. However, the criticism of which I speak as having been rejected in the past, is criticism of a considerably more objective nature. I have attempted to keep all of my critiques in that vein, as much as possible. If I feel that someone is outright rejecting any technical information I am attempting to impart, then so be it. I will cease and desist, offering no further comment. Before you start accusing me of hypocrisy, please demonstrate your technical know-how in a number of posts. Please, feel free to participate in this forum and bring aide to other members. If I make a comment that "the flute part lies too low in its range to be heard over the other instruments", and the OP responds with "yes, but that's how I want it", then I see no reason to continue commenting. The OP has decided that their way will work, right or wrong, and they will stick by their guns no matter what.
