Piano Fugue

Featured Replies

This is not a traditional fugue, but it does contain fugue-like qualities (modulation and all that good stuff). I wrote the first eight bars a week ago and then wrote the rest yesterday over the course of an hour. I strongly recommend listening to it on speakers that will do the bass line justice. My laptop's speakers make it totally inaudible. I also don't normally write for the piano since I am a mediocre pianist, but for some reason I just felt compelled. Also, this is my first post on this forum. I have to say I've been impressed with you all.

lovely piece with fine melody. just i say that in terms of structure it is a litle weak, because the return of the theme is done after those heavy chords which simply stop all the flowing. it is a too much easy way of take again the main theme, and lacks real structural coherence. seems as if you didn't know what to do with the previous intense motion and abandoned the logic development to quickly return home without a real solution. just my opinion!

Actually, you'd be totally correct. I didn't know what to do with the momentum.

:) just wait one or two days and later return to the work with a refreshed mind and u will know! u dont need to finish a piece in a single sitting. even God needed 7 days to finish his work! it deserves a more thoughtful approach because the material is very pregnant. best wishes!
