January 12, 200818 yr I've been playing the organ on a weekly basis for a while now, but in order to practice at my local church I have to help out at the local sunday service... does anyone have any tips or suggestions for performing at a church service please?
January 12, 200818 yr Performing as in playing hymns? The best thing to do is not think of it as 'performance'. You're the accompanist for the whole congregation. Also, the music you provide is merely acting as a vessel for continued worship, for the congregation. It is not music for listening, so keep that in mind. That will help focus you, so you don't get nervous every time you play. (God forgives wrong notes ;)) The main skill you want to build up is sight-reading, since you'll be playing new music every week.
