The Spider's Web

Featured Replies

The music is suppose to be mimicking a Spider's web.

I just got Finale 2006. It is by far the best notation software I have used, and I don't plan on going back to Noteworthy. Anyway, hearing the Solo strings on the GPO synth inspired me to compose a quartet piece. Give me your feedback as soon as you possibley can!

For those of you who have Finale 2006, load the GPO synth, select two solo violins, one solo viola, and a solo cello. It sounds so much better than that midi soundfont bank they have there.

I see that at least 6 people downloaded the file and didn't bother to tell me what they thought. That makes me feel discouraged.

Here's the MIDI file.

Very nice, don't be discouraged by the download /comment ratio. could be insecurety of your fellow composers :)

A strong start, all the notes are in place. the repetion makes the crecendo decrecendo a bit to present. Very nice long notes/chords after the repetition I would love to here one of the voices continue this movement as you pick up the motive of the beginning.

I could do without measure 13 and 14, they stick out

LOVE!!! :D 18 19 20. elongate a few measures more (because you didn't finish your musical sentence) then pick up speed again.

At 27 I get the idea that a piece of music is missing and from 28 on the music suddenly dies

VERY pictural,(portraying the death of the prey) but also a bit un musical :(

In general: good instincts, good ideas which deserve more time to develop (I mean in measures)

I think you have a little gem in your hands if you polish it some more.

Hi sorry, I downloaded it but can't open it... Finale Notepad is acting weird (I'm sure others are having this problem too, hence the download to comment ratio). Do you have a MIDI?

Cool :D It does make me think of a spider web

Good job,

- Jen

Alright then. But measures 13 and 14 are staying. They were suppose to build tension. It's as Spider's web, it's beautiful, but we all know what it's purpose is.

I posted one, you should find it in one of my previous posts.

Cool It does make me think of a spider web :P

Good job,

Thanks!

Anymore? :)

Well, I guess it is hard to paint the picture of a spider web with music, but I do see where you are going with this and think that you did a great job painting that picture! I enjoyed the piece  Great work!
