Writers block - Instrumentation

Hello everyone,

A while ago I wrote a melody and harmony but since then I haven't been sure what to do with it. Right now its been written for piano. However, I don't really see it as a piano piece but at the same time I don't know what kind of instrumentation would go well with it. I've attached a midi and soon ill put up the score. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or tips.

As you say, it isn't really a piano piece. The slow tempo would suit instruments with sustained tones. Either a string quartet or a woodwind quartet might work well, or possibly a trio for piano and two other instruments, say piano, cello and clarinet. It depends a lot on where you see the piece going as it develops.

I think the main melody would sound great on OBOE and either flute or clarinet.
