My First Piece

I actually put some thought into this, and it's not that good, but I wrote it last night at like, 3 am when my mind isn't entirley there.

However, I hope at least one enjoys it somewhat =P

hello? lol is it THAT bad?

I listened to this...and there were parts of it that i liked... i know next to nothing about the composition of a sonata, but i must say that i really didn't understand some of this...by that i mean i wasn't able to recognize the musical sensibilities of much of this piece...if that makes any sense...i guess i just didn't like it very much because most of it wasn't pleasing to listen to IMO....but its better than i could do... so you know...good stuff

can you post the score?

SONATAI.pdf

It's not very interesting, especially for being composed for only one instrument. I could see it being at least marginally more interesting if it were being accompanied. For solo woodwind, it is very hard to keep the piece interesting, since there is a total lack of vertical depth in the piece (harmony), with the one instrument alone. The best way to do that is to add more dynamics and more movement in the piece through tension in the piece; keep the audience on their toes.

I don't think, from glancing at this, that you should probably call this a sonata. A sonata is traditionally composed in a stricter form, although in the past century it has become somewhat less strict.
