Again i'm not sure what you mean. The viola plays mostly quarter notes. I'm not sure how snappy that is. You play violin don't you? How rigid can you play that piece? I wasn't making it harder to make it snappier, but to give her a challenge.

I'm talking about parts such as the beginning, where the viola actually has the melody, but since it's more or less the "bass notes" of the piece, it kinda suggests the rhymth. I was just saying it'd be nice for the violin part to support that style a bit better. Sorry if I'm not making much more sense - I'll try to post an example later on.

There is an old Russian Folk Song called I've met you. A few days ago I heard it played on the guitar and it moved me in such a way, I had to figure out the song and write it for a string orchestra. I didn't write it note for note, but I tried to keep true to the feeling and the theme. I hope you enjoy my verision.

You'r version sounds really nice, but i never heard the original.... Are you sure it's called i've met you? How do you say it in russian?

I have no earthly idea how the spell the russian verision of the song. My friend translated the title for me, and she is fluent in Russian, so I do doubt that she is wrong; however, it is possible!

What a beautiful piece of music! Your rendition is very nice, however I have never heard the original. I would be interested to hear the original version of the piece that inspired you to write this version. I think that would be a moving experience in-and-of-itself.

ohh I get you. Well, the song didn't have words, so I wouldn't be able to make an english spelling of it for you.

Hey, new song

String orch plus flute, obeo and clarinet. :D

My_Day.mid

What a beuatiful piece! The melodies are so beautiful! Ok into more details:

The woods solo was nice, but when the actual melody with the strings started it sounded really cool. The oboe and the clarinet worked well here (up to 1:25) The flute makes wonderful enterance at 1:45 i think. The melody doesn't develop much now until 2:30, and the timing was exelent! At 3:00 the melody returned nicely. I heard some dissonance at 3:17 though.... kinda spoils it for me.... The melody flows beuatifuly to 3:50 and the slow down... The violin takes the melody at the time that couldn't be better. woods make a good re-entry but there was a total pause at 5:17..... maybe a little to big. The ending was odd with the hold tone and all, but works well however.... Great job!

Why is it called "my day"?

I don't title my pieces, unless I know where they will be performed, so the title my day is just something I put in there for the hell of it.

Ich habe eine neues Lied.

I wrote this early today. Tell me what you think about it!

Really? why not? too shy? :)

Now about "aa" - This one was really nice! better than "my day" i think. Everything seems balanced. exept at 0:56 the melody sounds a little disorganized... until 1:10 when it gets richer (if you plan on changing it concetrate on that part). But i enjoyed every other second of it.

Overall a very good piece! Is it a part of a larger project maybe?

Really? why not? too shy?

I'm really enjoying aa. It sounds great. I ADORE :40. It's so exciting there. I agree that the melody does get a little disorganize around 1:00, I think. I love the moving part down in the cello, it moves everything along very nicely. 1:20 gets a little staccato for my tastes, but is very nice nonetheless. It's does provide a very nice contrast for the upcoming section. I don't love the ending, but it's effective and the chord is pretty.

This is a really marvelous competition.

*claps*

Lied.

If i remember correctly, a lied is a piece for male singer and piano. I migth be wrong though. (you know i suck when it comes to german  ).

Your ''Lied'' is nice, it reminds me of a xylophone trio (!) i composed 2 months ago, i dont have much to say, except; very...... ''appasionata''.

Keep composing! You have lots of potential and a unique style, something i don't have.

lied...song

lieder-songs

Hah, you are wrong! :D

http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=lied

but i guess it could mean both.

No, I am not wrong. Lied means song. You can use gesang, but that is to much like the past tense form of singing, so it's confusing, but people say Lied.

Bitte, Ich weiss Deutsch besser als dich. Ich habe Deutsch für viele Jahre gesprochen.

I also noticed you used an english definition of that word. Lied has become an english word, and uses that odd definition.

Hah, i learn more german here than at school. :D

About titles, you don't need to title your music. But i generally enjoy listening to music that has a purpose, what's the purpose of this ''lied''?

There is a purpose of the song, but I am not a fan of making you see the song as I see it. I enjoy hearing what people think my song means. Only when my work is being performed do I bother to title it!

New One! Part two to the first aa song :D

I edited the song above and am adding a new one :)

aaaa - Well listen, BitterDuck this one is also good, the orchestarization is admirable, but the melody itself wasn't very catchy... i think you did an amazing job on the the counterpoint in this song. but still the melody has a few weak spots... i like aa much more.

sa - again the melody wasn't as impressive as were the other elements. i'm not saying i didn't enjoy it but maybe it needs a lot of work arous the edges. is this the continuing og aaaa? (does s stand for "six a-s"? :))

Lol the sa does mean six a's. Anyway, I decided not to have those songs performed, but I do like this one!(I see all the errors you are talking about, and too lazy to fix em right now)

:P
