Hello I have been working on this peice, but it is only come to 1:14 even though I make so much melody I guess because its really fast tempo of 120 and its 8th notes. Its meant to have a dance type feel to it as the piece is called Dance of the Spring Flowers. It is for a duet of violins and meant to have a classical feel.

Here is the mp3: http://www.romeojguy.com/music/Dance%20of%...owers%20pt2.mp3

If you guys want I can see how to do a midi file as I only know how to make a .MUS file.

PS: Forgot to mention it is done in F Minor

Ok I figured out how to add midi. It doesn't sound too bad with midi, but to hear how it would sound if performed mp3 will give the best idea of that and my server is pretty fast. (mp3 uses Garritan Orchestra Sounds with ambience Reverb.)

Thanks

Well, ther are a number of ways that you can extend pieces.

For example, you can introduce completely new material, add repeats, etc. However, I don't recommend doing this unless the music requires it. If the piece can say what you want it to say in 1 minute, then why not leave it be?

In general, writing fast music is the hardest thing to do for younger people or newer composers. Therefore, in time you'll learn ways to extend your melodies and not worry too much about time.

On a side note, although 120 is fast, I do agree with Nico that in relation to a number of other pieces, it is realtively moderate. This shouldn't affect your decision making however, just keep writing at whatever pace you are comfortable with.
