international competition for a guitar composition

Recommended Posts

im sorry but this does not convince me as a secure competition. Send 40 euros to Elena Monti, via Cavalieri 31, 50610 Pappiana, S. GiulianoTerme, Pisa (Italy). Why would anyone be stupid enough to do that.

To send to a school or university or faculty would be more trustworthy...but to send a cheque to ELENA?!?!

AS IF.

Another thing - there is NO such word as Guitaristic...according to dictionary.com.

The Opera must be unpublished? WTF. I thought it was a composition for solo guitar or with other instruments.

The score can be accompanied with a recording tape? Don't you mean a record of the performance?!?!?! And in a competition, it would usually be REQUIRED.

Berben...does exist.

Allisio has a website...so at least he exists. But he cant be that fantastic. I may be judgemental, but his website is shocking for someone who is a professor. If he were one, would he not have a website based on a university website?

It will be performed in Bangkok, New York and Oslo...why those places, and WHERE at those places.

Im sorry, but a competition requiring 40 Euros sent with a photo, some 'news' about the composer, and an entirely unaccredited original piece of work - seriously needs to be more professionally approached. The english is absolutely shocking. A competition would require more information than that which is given. It is untrustworthy...and I can assure you, i am not going to enter!

It's quite reasonable to be skeptical of -anything- on the internet that tells you to send money to some person, so I understand that concern well.

But the presentation of this competition seems to be a rather normal one. Sure there are lots of English errors, but something like that is frequent. "Guitaristic" may not be a standard English term, but it's a very logical way to build an adjective out of guitar. And they just didn't know that "opera" in English doesn't mean any piece as it does in Italian.

It's pretty usual not to require a recording. Most competitions only require the score.

I don't see anything wrong with the website of Alessio Monti, or the fact that there are three planned concerts in Bangkok, New York and Oslo either: Maybe Mr. Monti is going to have concerts himself in these cities and plans to include the winning composition in these concerts. Just a possible guess.

Now, after all of this, I still do not disagree with you about staying sceptical. I just don't think that overly unprofessional presentation of the competition should be the reason for it, since it seems pretty standard.
