Learning to play keyboard

im gonna buy my first keyboard aswell as its my first instrument and i have no idea to play it dose anyone know any good online lessons? free would be nice but i can pay for em aswell aslong its just way to expensive :P

You can start by looking in Youtube, I think they have some good free piano lessons.

dident find any real good ones is there any site where its good detalied lessons?

He has his videos posted on YouTube but you can access them through the site.

He's quite humorous at times so the lessons aren't lifeless and boring.

Also try you local library for books on playing piano. There are nomerous. But i can also recommend getting piano lessons from are flesh and blood teacher. He/she can help you with what to do and all your questions.

Why not just find a real pianist to give you lessons? I'm sure there are at least 10 in your town. To be perfectly honest, no one on the internet is going to teach you jack, and you'll just wind up picking up bad habits. You need to do the same thing everyone else did on their instruments, find a teacher, work your donkey off, or both

A teacher is a must to learn good piano techniques. Try attending at least 10 classes, I am not fan of keyboard and surely cannot advise you on that. Try buying a digital piano, a used one should be relatively cheap. Then again it depends what kind of music you are interested in. If you are in to classical then a digital piano or if possible an upright one may be good option. Well that is my 2c

It depends on what you want to do really. If you just want to plunk out a few notes on a Radio-Shack toy keyboard, youtube lessons would be fine. If you want to be a serious player, get a real piano and take real lessons. Pianos don't have to be as expensive as you think. I see free pianos on craigslist and freecycle all the time. Spend a few hundred bucks to move it and get it in tune and you'll be set.

i dont think i`ll be playing much on the keyboard but i heard from some other guys on the forum that i`td be good to learn befor begining composing i want to make theme songs and such for some series and such i`ll also be using virutual instruments in my sound software but i got no idea where to start

realy, start by seriously learning an instrument.

lol this is one stubborn child. fine, if you don't think you'll be playing the keyboard much, then don't even bother with it, just write your little theme songs on the computer. hopefully you'll start to appreciate the importance of keyboard playing one time or another, and only then can you start learning with real dedication.

I don''t think it's one hundred procent absolutely necesary to play an instrument, but it will help you so much. Making music is a very diffucult thing to do. If you want to make music that has some meaning you have to learn a whole lot. Things seem always easier when looked upon than when you are actualy doing so. (skien is just putting you skies down and don't look back..sure). If you don;t have an instrument whereto you can relate all the theorie you'll have to learn it's even harder to learn how to make music. Do as you please and i'm saying it without any hard feelings. But believe me when i say that making music is very difficult, perhaps much more diffucult then you think beforehand and if you realy want to do so playing an instrument is very helpfull.

Keyboard is definitely an awesome way to go. I salute you for that! I might invest some money in a music theory book (any will do really) and figure out some chord structure. From there just play around on said keyboard. Hear the chord, get it in your head. That's a fantastic way to start training your inner ear to hear anything you want to compose. The biggest deal is learning all the notes then fooling around, you'll eventually teach yourself some basic piano. Your technique might not be perfect, but unless you intend to get serious with piano, that all you'll need.

incidental music Is what i`ll be doing no idea what i need to do and such yet tho :P as far as i know virutual instruments are important aslong as im not mistaken :P

incidental music or not, if you enjoy writing music then i dont see why you wouldnt want to play an instrument. you dont have one yet, so how would you know? get a cheap keyboard, and if youre serious about playing, get a teacher. composition will come on its own
