So it's over

mvmt1-start.sibSo here is a 1 minute song. The basic idea was to write in a minor circle progression. I went around the circle twice so i'm proud. The point was not to use an alter notes but make the song enjoyable using everything else. I hope i've done that.

I liked the piece - I found that the opening was very good. Overall I don't really have anything negative to say, but at the same time I don't really feel like examining the piece's score. In terms of sound, it is very nice.

Nice piece. Very cool and mellow.

I liked the sequence around :36. Not sure about the end chord, though. It seemed like it ended, but then there was another chord that didn't seem to fit right. Like it was going to go somewhere but didn't. Also, you may want to try more dynamic contrast to make it more exciting.

Overall, nice piece :P I agree with Evan, some dynamics certainly would have made it more interesting. Also the ending seemed a bit abrupt. Other than that, I believe you accomplished your goal, good work!

Well the mood is there.

What a depressing waltz...

Overall a very beautiful piece. I followed the score otherwise than parallel octaves in the right hand, the piece seems easy to play. The parallel octave were spaced so that they were very playable. My only criticism is that the ending seems a bit odd. The right hand transitions from b major-b major-d flat minor. Is there any reason for this?

Overall though I found it very charming, and relaxing (not depressing for some strange reason ;) ).

Neh, the parallel octaves in this are easy to play. :( If you want challenging parallel octaves go look at some Rachmaninow scores. ;)

I like it, personally. It's a waltz of melancholy, a danse de le tristesse as it were. Pretty. :D

Now, just spice it up with more chromaticism (unless as you say the point was to not use anything outside of your key signature..), a greater variety of figuration and rhythms! I look forward to hearing more! =) I love circle progressions also. One of my favorites alternates third and fifth progressions (not really a circle I guess, maybe an ellipse? haha): start in a major key and then have your root proceed down by a fifth, down by a third, up by a fourth, down by a third, up by a fourth, down by a third, up by a second (now we're at V) and then resolve! yay!
