Nocturne for cello and piano

Hello,

I composed a Nocturne for cello and piano for my cellist friend as a birthday present. The structure of this piece is a simple a-b-a with some variation of course.

It is performed by that friend, who I dedicated the piece and my piano teacher is accompanying him.

Lovely piece!

I think it's very colourful (in harmony), emotive (lets the 'cello sing), and the piece has a good musical curve or shape to it.

There were a few bits of harmony that are derived from jazz/popular music which perhaps stuck out a little. I think it'd be better if you tried to keep all the harmony very 'personal', although you do mostly avoid clich

Thank you for your comment! I agree I must be more careful in future to not let my compositions be haunted by too "poppish" ideas. I'm glad I'm now aware of it. It is some times really hard to be objective to your own compositions, this is why forums like theese are great!
