Two pieces (Flute and piano, Horn and piano)

Featured Replies

The first piece is a flute solo that I wrote a couple of weeks ago. It is fairly short (much shorter than most pieces I have written)

The second piece I over the Christmas holiday when I first bought Finale. It is for French horn and piano.

I liked the beginning of the flute piece. But I wasted crazy about the "clashing of the piano and flute melody. The ending was very pretty.

I liked the horn piece a lot more. I think it worked and really flowed beautifully.

Flute piece:

This will sound weird, but it does not sound like a flute piece to me.

The piano does not work 'with' the flute...

They don't go anywhere together.

The piano part never really does anything to enhance or complement the flute part. They are really two seperate entities.

I like the ideas though. I could imagine a much more flow-y flute part, and perhaps don't just roll the chords - vary a bit, work it in there.

Horn piece:

flow is good, the piece is going some where i think.

Much more 'involved' than the flute piece?

There is a definite idea in this one.

I like it.

The piano complements the horn in this one a lot more than in the flute piece.

Good motif in the piano, there is a good atmosphere to the piece.

I kind of knew that most people wouldn't like the Flute piece. The clashing in the piano was an attempt to fuse tonal and atonal lines. It was a little experimental...

well that's the problem, they didn't fuse. If it was worked a bit more, they could come together.

The horn piece was really pretty. I believe there could be just a little bit more, though. Granted, that's probably my personal taste speaking, but...yea, just giving you what I think.

As for the flute piece...how do I say this lightly... I love it! I mean, it's simple, yes, easy, yes, different, most definitely. I don't know, maybe I don't know enough or something, but I loved it. There were a couple of notes that I didn't agree with, but other than that, it's a great idea, and it somewhat reminds me of 'Somewhere over the Rainbow'...

Great job!

I love the horn part. I can hear it being preformed too, by a real horn player.

I have a feeling the midi file really doenst do this peice justice. Iw ould seriously try to find a pianist and a horn player to preform this peice.
