Orchestral Dance

Featured Replies

Here's a dance for orchestra I recently finished. It's in basic ABA form, plus a coda. I had originally titled it "Russian Dance", but then I realized that much of the music didn't sound Russian at all! Hope you enjoy.

Amazingly nice. :)

Based just on the midi (which I hate to do), this looks very promising. A MP3 would be much better.

I enjoyed this piece, it definitely was fun and kept my interest throughout. The harmonic, melodic, and orchestrational ideas were strong.

However, I felt that the rhythmic ideas were too square. The piece remained in 4/4 throughout without not one slight alteration if I remember correctly. Maybe a surprising 3/4 somewhere in the middle of the sea of 4/4 would add extra interest?

Overall, a very enjoyable piece. Nice job!

This is a very fun piece, it reminds me of Tetris a lot. I can picture many of the different musicians dancing in their seats while playing. Great stuff!

I really like this. Much of the percussion instrumentation provides a Medieval feel, which I just love. The transformation into the B section was very smooth. From that point on, it didn't have as much of a Medieval feel, now becoming more modern. You used a very nice transition back into the A section, which worked for you quite well. Good anticipation of the ending. The last note with what I believe to be a timpani solo was a bit long, and I personally would cut out that solo. Amazing work!
