Piece for orchestra

Hi! I started working on this piece a few weeks ago, but I haven't really been progressing. I would like to develop the fast part a bit more. Any ideas to do this? Also, does the piece remind you of some piece by another composer? I'm quite sure another piece inspired me to write this piece, but I can't remember it. Would like to listen it again, perhaps I get more inspiration. :)

So what size orchestra you plan on using for this piece?

How many of each instrument?

Yes indeed. Do you have One Flute, 14 flutes, or 124,439,495,023.45 flutes?! Some dynamics might me nice too. And perhaps a better orchestration overall.

I wrote another piece for an orchestra that featured one of each instrument (except for the strings). But I feel that I need more brass. One French Horn player won't work for this piece, same for the trombones. What do you think?

I can assure you that "one of each instrument" will NOT work if you are talking about adding more brass.

Meaning by this that 1 flute, 1 oboe, 1 clarinet and 1 bassoon will in NO way balance out against even 1 of each brass instrument without EXTREMELY careful consideration.

Normally, when writing for orchestra, you would have the woodwinds in pairs, then either 2 or 4 horns, 2 to 3 trumpets, 2 to 3 trombones, optional tuba, and your string section.

There are other formations possible, but this at least gives you an idea of a standard ensemble.

And please, either read a good orchestration/instrumentation book, or at least take a peak at the orchestration masterclass on this forum to get an idea of how to deal with the various instruments as a group.
