July 31, 200817 yr Hey guys this is my first recordingand mixed down on my own using my own software and what a perfect song to mix down for the first time. The song is called "I found you". I was written in the spring of 2008 and is to date one of my more succesful solo vocal peices. please tell me what you think of the peices is self as well as the mix down. Note: Please no comments over the vocals themselves. I did sing this myself I know the intonation is alittle off in places. I didnt correct them because it would have not made a diffrence due to the current condition of my voice. Thank you. July 31, 200817 yr First of all you describe the song for a medium voice. You shouldn't have bothered because whatever voice type sings this song it'll be challenge. I believe the range was an A flat to an F sharp. That'd be hard for me to sing. As far as the accompaniment goes, I'm not much of a pianist but looking at the song from a psychological point of view and how it would affect a persons mood. I would have chosen something more flowing for those lyrics. *I will comment on the actual singing even though you didn't want anyone to. Despite the pitch I think you have a very fine voice. I appreciate the adeptness of your range and I personally think you sound better swelling into your higher register.* FYI.
July 31, 200817 yr Ab to F# is not far beyond the normal operatic-baritone register, which can be, I suppose, described as the male medium voice. The strict register is A to F#, and sometimes to G. So I see no reason why it couldn't be considered also Ab to F#. In the female register, a mezzo could handle this song no problem. This is a very nice song. Who wrote the text? Your pacing is particularly good, I think. I might re-clef the thing - put it just in treble clef. Right now it looks like you're specifying a tenor voice, which is clearly not the case. The treble clef makes it open-ended, and therefore more likely that both men and women will sing the song. It's quite an accessible contemporary piece as well. Very nicely composed.
