Chaos (Video)

Featured Replies

The film here was made by Zennor Alexander and was scored by me for a competition that I didn't have time to enter. The film makes as much sense as the music. The film is about birth, life, travel and a return.

Here it is

I suggest that you make the video larger in your player. I had to keep it small in order to use Boxnet, (sorry for the inconvenience).

Comments are welcome.

Very nice.

One thing I might suggest, though this is just my personal preference, is that the music needs some sort of unifying aspect. For instance, that little flying leaf, (butterfly? I couldn't really tell), seems to be the recurring image that holds the film's fractured visuals together. Why not assign a theme or even just a small motive to the leaf? This would help ground the viewer in the visuals. As it stands, the music seemed to just move around and not really go anywhere. Try to reflect the concept of the film within the music. Viewers are counting on you to make the film make sense.

Nonetheless, a very good effort! Experimental films are always difficult to do and you did a very nice job!

I see what you mean but doubt if I will do anything more to this one for a while. I did this one at the end of last semester and have moved on to more conventional pieces. By that I mean my kind of music.

Thanks for the comments

Hey, that's a nice piece of music!

The ethereal atmosphere is perfectly suitable to the film: as there are several colours and movements on the screen, so there is a myriad of different tones and textures to represent and translate the visual effects into music.

I really liked it, congratulations!

That is a glowing review and I thank you for it.

Ron,

Really a perfect blend of the images and you well conceived music. I love the way that each instrument has it's own way of describing it's perception of emotions. But combined together they make it even clearer.

Love it!

I may not a professional in music but I'm a good listener....and I like it..

Even though the movie doesn't make sense to me in a story line way, it did emotionally. I am glad you caught that idea as well.

Listeners are what we all need and I thank you for letting me know your opinion.

Thanks guys

Ron,

The video has some very abrupt changes although the overall theme seems to be movement with several layers - some curious and unusual effects. The music does capture the overall mood of the layering - in a way an integration of the chaotic function that is the video - to hazard a mathematical analogy :).

I rather like this short work.

It is short. I think if it were any longer it would make even less sense.

Thanks as always for your input.

I would love to watch. But, I have a mac. So, I'm afraid I cannot view wmv files. Could you post a mov file? Or perhaps post it on youtube?

The only program I have that does any converting of videos will only make WMV's.

If you know of a free program to make .mov's, I will see what I can do.
