Opinions, Help, and a name...

Featured Replies

I have this song that was actually the first song that I wrote that I actually felt decent about. This is an older recording and actually pretty poor... since then I have changed up a few chords and things to make it a little more harmonized but I really know nothing about theory so if I could get some opinions on how to make this better it would be appreciated... I will need the feedback a little watered down also cause I don't know much.

What can I say? I liked the piece, and I really think that had some parts that were better than a lot of pieces from people who already think of themselves as composers!

You can't get opinions on how to make it better... if you'd ask me... You are the only one that can do that... An opinion is an external factor that in fact is a stimulant...

My advice is that you should try to hear your piece with the most sincere objectivity and see what should stay, what should be improved, and what should be removed. Try to listen your piece after a 2-3 days break, and you'll see that it will appear a little bit different.

My opinion is that the piece lacks consistency.... But it's still an impressive effort from someone who

knows nothing about theory
. You can try joggling a little bit with the left hand at the piano... filling the "holes" with a more dynamic accompaniment and or with a counter theme. Also... a modulation wouldn't hurt... The piece, in its essence, is not really a classical one... But it has its beauty!

My two cents...

Sebastian

it sounds like the piano part of a popular song. :)

sometimes "not knowing anything about musical thoery" allows your imagination to go further. but i still suggest you learn musical theory because if you know it, you feel like your music is under your control, not your experiment.
