October 4, 200817 yr I totally heard a bit of Nyman in the ostinato piano bit around 1 min of the way through. Very evocative and joyful piece. Nice work!
October 4, 200817 yr Author Hi Zephyr, Composed this 2 days ago. I felt like I was in a sort of trance, it started with a Schubert kind of melody that grew larger and larger until I wanted to have the strings, timpani and the brass of the orchestra. Sometimes I got up in the middle of the night to orchestrate and eat chocolate! Thanks for lending an ear! I don't know about "Nyman?", sounds like a Swedish name to me! Fred
October 5, 200817 yr Micheal Nyman, film score to The Piano; best track is called "The Heart Asks Pleasure First". He's a kinda minimalist composer, and a part sort of sounded like this song.
October 6, 200817 yr Author Hi Zephyr, Here is the music that inspired my "The Stars of the Milky Way" The melody is derived from the development section towards the end of this piece, at exact 2:43 minutes, which is called "French Overture". I developed the melody playing it on the piano and chose a faster rhythm to it!: enjoy, Fred
October 8, 200817 yr Author Hi again, Zephyr! Thanks for lending an ear! Sometimes I go and listen to people that comment on my music! I found your piece, "Freeze, Freeze Thou Bitter Sky..." It's a great piece, Zephyr! Congratulations! Fred
