Alto Duet

Featured Replies

Creative, I know. And this is short and I'm not really looking for advice. I'm putting it up for convenience of showing Mael. :P Though you may comment if you wish.

Sorry. I forgot to put up the files. =P

It's nice... but I play the sax and if you showed me the music with that key signature and expected me to play it I'd want to slap you. :)

I'm not sure why there would be any problem with the key signature...quite a simple one..Bb Major..perhaps you were looking at it in concert pitch of Db Major? anyways...the piece has fine counterpoint, though nothing is particularly interesting about it and I can't say I can remember any of it, having listened about 30 seconds ago..you seem to understand some basic counterpoint, now try to find some "hook" to your piece, a certain theme or melody that will glue the piece together and see what kind of ideas you can come up with to make the idea as interesting as possible to the listener. When you write, try to honestly think: "Would I listen to this?"

I'm sorry, I opened the midi file up with finale, and it showed me Bb Minor (5 flats). I have an older version of finale so I can't open the .mus... so I'm just going to assume it's in a more sax friendly key.

By the way, your lowest note may be too low? My finale may have messed it up, but what is it by any chance?

Well. The key is fine. You just need to update your software. =P I too play sax and wouldn't make anything that pissed me off key wise. lol. I'm just an amateur by the way. So thanks for the input. And no, the lowest note is not too low. I don't know what it is. But I would realize that I've gone past the mark.

Okay. As of now. This is the finished piece. Do realize I wasn't aiming for an I want everybody to listen piece, I'm just working on being musical in my pieces until I can get good music styles down. I was also going for a, would I have fun playing this piece, sort of thing also, which I do think I would. I mean I'd obviously have to be creative with my playing style a little more than the composing program would really let me. BUT PLEASE COMMENT LOTS IF YOU CAN!!! =P Thanks much. I wanted this to be 3 minutes long but I didn't quite make it there, I know. I kind of ran out of creative juices. So I just kind of ended it. I might extend it a bit.

It doesn't sound like it's finished lol.

Well, that's because there is supposed to be a fermata at the end. I don't like the way it sounds without it being held out. But I felt it wasn't necessary to make another measure. But you might just think it's the sound of the chord in general, and that's not going to be changed because I like it. =P

What's with the double notes at measure 19?

I thought it was a duet.

I decided that I like multiple chords in that spot and let them have a choice. :D
