Flight into the beyond - Rough Sketch

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, thought I should let everyone in on my recent project. You know get to know my style. I'm personally fond of Contemporary Orchestration, like Danny Elfman, Hanz Zimmerman, Alex Wurman, I'm especially fond of Disney orchestration as this is where I want to work someday. Anyways, I don't have Sibelious or something fancy like that to render an MP3 with a media library, but I DO have a midi editor I input all my jots and ideas into. Although I would LOVE to have the ability to turn this into at LEAST a well rendered song that actually sounds real, you'll all just have to use a little more imagination than usual and picture how this would sound if a REAL symphony was playing this. Well I'm not looking for in depth reviews otherwise I would've put up sheet music, considering this is a rough draft anyway, I didn't see the need. But yeah tell me what you think!

I composed a more childlike point of view of what outer space is. I didn't want a big mysterious darker sound but instead a gentle ride or flight through the cosmos, even a more romantic sound to an extent.

Comments appreciated! Enjoy!

Well! I quite liked the piece, it kept my attention the whole way through. I particularly liked the many tempo/feel changes, and the ascending harmonic movement. Good work!

very nice

i'm not sure if it' just the midi, but the beginning is quite light and fun! very enjoyable

tempo changes good, but i would try and make each section a little longer. it seems like you get an idea, it develops, but then all of a sudden it's gone. you know?

it kind of sounds like a zelda ending credits kind of music. short, sweet to the point. not to mention the midi format xP

all in all i like it.

i'm assuming that you know, but just to make sure, there IS a free version of finale that you can download for their website which works great and doesnt take up that much room on you computer. now i havent used the free version in a while, but if i remember right you can save your work as an mp3. either way you can upload it as a finale file and get great musical results for those with finale.

once again nice job.

Woa there is?! I didn't know. But the MP3s are they rendered with a sound library or just synthesized?

If so please, send me a link!!

Thanks!

Hey danny-o,

I am sorry, I just felt I needed to say something,

well, you have other projects uploaded?

er, I will tell you the truth, I slept on my computer table halfway thru.

Maybe I was too tired, but I just dint have the energy to errr, dissect 3 thousand odd measures, with static chords and static harmony progressions for the the first few minutes.

Im so sorry, I think i am very harsh and sound most unprofessional, but thats what I thought.

haha, maybe Ill come back some tommorrow morning. =)

i think it was cutesy disney soundtrack music. It did get a little boring, but it was a nice playful ride through space. Nice ideas for a soundtrack of people flying through space, but there arent any themes here that really stayed w/ me..good work though

Hi again, Danny! I have listened to your piece and I think that if you would orchestrate it with GPO you would get an even better result!

It's a cool piece!

I don't know if you have used GPO before?
