I was going to put the Compresed MP3 File but it's too big. So here is the MIDI which is really CRAPPY. For some reason the Piccolo part is played with the acoustic guitar patch. Well, here's what I can give you but you probably can't make a good critique with it. Sorry

I like it. It's good to see somebody else using the wind ensemble! ;)

By the way, did you write it for a school ensemble?

The piece sounds very good in perspective, but once you look at it some parts are just completly impossible. For instance some of the 32nd note phrases the clarinets have also. There is definately some "uncomfortable playing ranges" If you fix that it will be very good. Some parts are just moving a lil too fast and leading to nowhere. THough otherwise i think it is excellent. Good work!

I wrote it for a competition but I am trying to get my University WE to play it. My piece doesn't have any 32nd notes in it...could you please tell me what measure. Thanks

This piece is interesting. There are some good ideas but there isn't really anything to grab onto. It's basically a sea of notes. For example, I notice that you have a variations structure going on, but I can't tell whether you are doing variations on a theme or just treating each variation as a new section. It also ends rather abruptly. If you inserted some recognisable melodies into this, I feel it would be much improved.

I very much liked your orchestration though, especially at the beginning.

There's definitely an interesting feel to this piece. The inclusion of the drum set and the moods it evoked were quite particular. I noted in the beginning it reminded me of an African rhythm, while later on it was more a Jamaican rhythm.

I listened to the midi, and I wonder how badly the conversion went, because you had stacks of five note chords being played by the trumpets alone in some places. I have a hard time imagining that you wrote this work for that many trumpets (the clarinets were even worse).

I rather liked the section in the middle where the instruments only played in snatches here and there. That was very clever and well done. It did get a bit old after a while though, and you should not have drawn out that technique as long as you did. Towards the end of the work we wanted more constant music.

Although the players are probably delighted to have os many rests after some of the gymnastics you put them through! I know I certainly wouldn't want to be playing this piece! It is very difficult!
