Mushroom forest

Featured Replies

This is a project I'm been working on for some time, it's about the old forests of scandinavia and the creatures living in it.

I don't have a score since I don't use notaion for composing but the piano roll, I did however try to export the score from Logic with the print feature but I couldn't get it to show all the tracks in a good way and I couldn't print separate tracks either, if someone have a better way to export score from Logic, please enlighten me :).

Here are the songs:

March of the mushroom trolls.mp3

Dance of the forest creatures.mp3

Swinging treetops.mp3

Song of the forest.mp3

Angry trolls.mp3

or the whole album as an archive: Mushroom forest.zip

Sorry, I can't help you with getting Logic to produce a score.

Are these five movements meant to be played as one continuous piece? The endings, especially for the first two, are very abrupt.

I thought the first two movements were quite good. The last three movements often seemed very similar in parts to the first two so their impact was lessened. The beginning of "Swinging treetops" seemed slow but then in the middle it developed some new and interesting ideas.

To me there was too much of a repetitive drum beat that started to detract from the music but that may just be my personal bias. :)

I heard many good themes with fine instrumental colours but often these were only briefly stated and not developed to their full potential - I would have liked more of these contrasting sections.

Overall, I enjoyed listening to these pieces. Thanks for posting.

The peices are meant to be played as one continous peice, or rather different pieces as part of a story but yeah, some endings where perhaps a bit too abrupt. :)

I definitely agree that the rythm/beat needs to be developed further, I was going for some sort of trance music-like beat but it's too simple now.

Thanks for your comment! :)
