short chorale for brass

Featured Replies

I wrote this short chorale,as a warm up for my school brass quintet. This is a 16 bars chorale, and the aim should be to get in tune for the players.I do welcome feedbacks.

I thought it was pretty good. The 2nd trumpet part needs higher notes; why not tune the same as the other trumpet? You have only one concert Bb in the part and no higher notes.

Thank you for your feedback,i have adjusted my piece

I am not sure if you purposely have the trumpets and horn in concert pitch, or you just forgot after making the chords.

There is no shape to the melody, it just seems like random notes randomly drew out of a hat.

Normally in a chorale, there really isn't that big of a range, normally within an octave of each other.

Needs a lot of work.

Please elaborate

As a trumpet player I do welcome a warmup piece like the 2nd trp. I wouldn't call the 1st trp notes a "warmup". You may avoid anything above written (high) G.

For the ensamble to start listening actively to eachother, you may start with a few bars with long tones and really simple chords (e.g. root + perfect fifth). /BR Tomas F.

It's good for a warmup piece, although, like everyone said, the 1st Tpt seems a bit high for a warmup. If you could fit a melody in there, I'm sure it could be something very pretty.
