This pieces was written in this fall semester. The title of the piece is Spring Rain and is written for SSAA or TTBB choirs. The poem the lyrics are taken from is a poem by Sara Teasdale titled Spring Rain.

Please tell me what you think about it....

This is beautiful. Your singers are wonderful. I have to say, I like the sparser harmonies better almost. My favorite phrase: "With the wild spring rain and thunder..." The melody is so compelling. Also "Your eyes said more to me that night." The ending is also very good.

I would look again at your piano accompaniment. Some of the voicing in it is unbalanced in weird ways - and other places have sudden instances of parallelisms that are unsettling.

Thanks for the reply and your comments.

I do have to agree with you in that the phrase "With the wild spring rain and thunder..." and "Your eyes said more to me that night.". Those two are also is my favorite phrases in the piece.

No one else has anything to say.... I really would like something... some comments. I was hoping for some more feedback before i send it off to Hinshaw.

I really liked the piece too! Sara Teasdale is an amazing poet and her poems are a composers dream, personally. I also was a giant fan of the 9th in the S1 part in the end. I always love notes that add color at the end. It's very well written. Awesome job!!

Thank you for your comments... I have to agree that Sara Teasdale is a great poet. Usually I go for the avaunt guard poets but she is one of the exceptions.
