2 preludes trancedantes

Early adolescent piano pieces of a late romantic idiom. I am very fond of them however because they remind me of a more frivolous time in my life :)

Even though it's clearly in a romantic style.. it comes across somewhat as an individual voice with a modern twist on tonality. Kind of like prokofiev.

These are enjoyable...but its killing me how abruptly they end ;)

Are they meant to go together as a pair?

The first was quite enjoyable. You should think of extending it a bit. The second one wasn't quite as good but still good. The slight accel. was a great addition to the music. But the harshness of the chords through most of it sort of drowns out the niceness of the rest. It's a good addition, but I'd suggest making it a bit quieter, or bring the other part out more. (I'm a noob composer btw)

I really like your use of tension as almost a release from other tension, I'm also a great fan of that era and I think you very accurately represented it. I like the second piece as well, although the middle era is a little out of character it still fits if you just look at it as music as opposed to classifying it, i think you need to lower the dynamic of the chorded part a little though although i assume you know this and thats just the way the midi failed to cooperate.

SecretAgentSuttleschinns-I intented to use overchromaticism as it was a common practice during that era so that's probably why some chords sound harsh to you. Thank you for your recommendations.

jimmiew-you are absolutely right regarding the chords dynamic - blasted midi!!! :-). I was really glad you figured my practice of using tension as a release (I think they did it as well back then with all those unresolved and continuous chords they applied) Thank you!
