Three works for comparison

Barber - the lovely first movement of his Wind Quintet Summer Music

I'm afraid I don't understand why you would be "comparing" these three works?

QC - These are very general comparisons -- let us call it a comparison of "play" and "interplay"

A) For the Bach and the Barber the sophistication of the counterpoint

B) For the Powell and Bach to see how much improvisation informs Bach works.

C) Such baroque elements as the walking bass line in the chorale persists and is transformed in the Bud Powell piece.

D) For the Barber the expressive lines sound very much like brief eruptions of improvisation and "play" much as you hear in the ornamentation of the line in the Bach and Bud Powell's improvisation on the harmonic changes.

That is all. Fairly elementary comparisons.
