Waltz in D Minor

Featured Replies

Here is a short waltz that I made. It is in the style almost of a prelude, short and very expressive. There is much dissonance in this piece which gives it a somber tone, I was trying to experiment with different chords and melodies; I think it came out pretty good. Let me know what you think!

Waltz in D Minor Number 1.mid

Were you composing from one measure to the next measure without setting a long term goal?? IT doesn't seem like you have any sense of direction of where you're going.

I have to agree that I don't feel musically led through the piece. To me the piece doesn't feel like a "Waltz" and I'm only talking about the meter.

If you want to continue experimenting with the harmonies you used in this piece perhaps you could go back and write out the harmonies you plan to use and construct some melodies that have some motivic connection. Then you could try and compose a Binary Waltz (A and B section) to help keep things simple as you continue to experiment.

Very Very experimental. Thats not really my stile so i will not be able to give an unbiased review sorry. But i think its very classy from my theoretical side.
