February 23, 200917 yr For my HSC (NSW leaving certificate) i have to pick four peices to play and be examined on. I have 3 so far but i'm not really sure what the last one should be:(... my teacher said its good to have a large variety between peices and to pick something that different or strange that the markers won't know coz they have to mark performances from the whole state... I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?:)... i think i'm about a 6th grade level The pieces i have so far are: Gigue from partita in B flat Solace by scott joplin ( not the rag one, the slow one in F) An arrangement of Firedance from Riverdance simillar to the one found at YouTube - Firedance -piano arrangement and they can be from any topic except Baroque, thanks so much for any suggestions!
February 23, 200917 yr You can pick something from Byrd: Galliarde 3 Galliarde 10 Both are from "My Ladye Nevells Booke". Alexandros
February 23, 200917 yr Normal Dello Joio's suite for piano is quite nice (first movement is short and easy). Or Schnittke's first movement from his Sonata for Piano No.1 (easy to play, but not easy to perform). But you shouldn't play a piece you don't like, otherwise you won't invest in it as much as you could/should, and the performance will not be your best. So, the only person who knows your level of piano and your likes is.. you. So it's entirely up to you - make yourself familiar with a lot of different piano repertoire, and pick a piece you feel like learning :)
February 24, 200917 yr Author wow you got into encore! that so cool!! yeh i orignally picked eflendance by grieg coz i thought it was easy and short...but its also sooo boring
February 24, 200917 yr Author Should that be electronic or mechanic pieno? um, i think the final performance will be on a baby grand but my piano teacher also has a harpsichord if i want to use it:) What genre category would Byrd come under?
