Mouth Trumpeting

Featured Replies

After Artwhistling, part 1 of Sum1's esoteric musical interests, comes Mouth Trumpeting...

Could anyone help me figure out how to mouth trumpet? I know that particular skill is more common than artwhistling. I can get my lips to vibrate somewhat (I still need a little help with this too), but I'd really appreciate the finer details on how to get that beautiful trumpet-like tone. I don't have full internet access, so any tips/guides would have to be posted here.

Thanks a lot!

Sorry to start with non-help comment but I do need that same kind of help playing the trumpet, I'm just starting with it and I'm wondering if the mouthpiece is the correct for me ...is a common 7C....

I've looked in the internet and all I find is "fingering charts", but nothing of how to mouth the trumpet to sustain or change the harmonics.

I'm sorry to ask this, but could you make a separate topic for your problem? There is a vast amount of difference between regular trumpeting and mouth trumpeting. Mouth trumpeting is humming through your lips to create a sound similar to a trumpet, but the technique is completely unrelated.

OK, I'm sorry then....

I can somewhat do this, I tend to do it out of the side of my mouth and try to actually hum the tone I want. I don't vibrate my lips so much but just enuogh to get it to make a subtle sound, which really gives it the trumpet sound.

I know you don't have full internet access, but if you could ever youtube the King's Singers, particularly their two songs "Short People" and "The Barber of Seville" both of which one of the guys does the mouth trumpet pretty well, you can see what he does with his mouth there.
