March 20, 200917 yr While I was working last weekend, I got this melody in my head. It was rather slow so I did some preliminary sketches during my shift. By the time I got home I had a nearly a fully formed idea in my head, and I knew what music I wanted to set it to. The Magnificat is a great prayer of acceptance and faith. I have tons of respect for Mary, the mother of Jesus, and her enormous undertaking (if you believe in it). The prayer is what she replied to Gabriel after he assigned her with the task of becoming the mother of God. Anyway enough back story, onto comments and the ceremonial lashings! magnificat.MID MagnificatScore.pdf
March 20, 200917 yr Hey nice music but oh...oh, some parallel fives :P If you're talking about bass fifths...there's a really good reason to use those.
March 21, 200917 yr Author This is beautiful :D It makes me miss going to church! I know this may sound bad, but writing music like this is probably my replacement for going to church.
March 23, 200917 yr Hey nice music but oh...oh, some parallel fives :P this isn't common-practice harmony, I think that leeway can be given for stylistic parallel 5ths here. none stuck out to me as being out of place.
