Why is the title in German, you aren't German

No no, it's a fair question.

The reason for the title is that this piece was conceptualized to run in the vein of the Konzertstucks of the romantic era... i.e. pieces with loose-form demonstrating the virtuosity of the player. It's not a concert piece or a concerto movements.... it's a Konzertstuck.

But in the same vein, you could question why people use "f" and "p" in their dynamics... we're not all Italian!

The octave double stops beginning m 59 just don't look playable to me. 247 - 250 also looks rather difficult - at least from the perspective of the performer (which position will he/she play!) Mind you, I'm not a cellist. My instrument was the viola - devoted 17 years to the beautiful instrument :) As this piece is being performed, what has the cellist commented on? Surely, he/she has had a chance to see this already - and started practicing it. Hope you fill us in !

If You play it higher up on the fingerboard you should be fine.

Very lovely, I'm so excited about somebody that still creates music in this genre. It would be fun on the viola, maybe even slightly easier. I couldnt resist pulling out my cello and sight reading.

as for the mp3 part, add .mp3 extension at the end and it works.

you could use the tenor clef a bit to keep up continuation... in some places where it's not logical to use the treble. Ah, it's not used as much...

Oh, I really love the cadenza, the mp3 doesn't do it justice, especially when you have the melody accompanied by the sixteenth notes, it's really heavy sounding, but when I think about how a person would play it, I see how it works.

One thing I like about being here, especially after 2 years, is seeing the progression of composers like you. I thought your music at first was decent but nothing special. This, however, is VERY special. You've taken the romantic language and made it your own. You should be proud of your abilities and how far you've come. Congrats on the live performance, it must have been awesome!

As for the cello part, a lot of it had to be re-written due to minor playability issues, so the performance copy was quite different than the copy seen here. The piano part, however, wasn't changed much at all.

Since it was commissioned by a Euphonium player, the performance was not with cello... With Euphonium, though, must of the double stops and triple stops (duh) were removed. Besides that, the notes were the same. It was performed in front of the board of directors for the acclaimed Midland Symphony Orchestra and they were quite impressed with the piece, apparently. It was a great honour for a beginning composer like me.

Vince - thank you for your extremely generous words and if you're truly being honest, then I'm very flattered. It's nothing special for me, yet... but it's getting there.
