Brass Quintet entitled Z

Featured Replies

Well I wrote a brass quintet. It starts out slow and tonal and quickly livens up with an ostinato. As this piece goes through drama it steadily becomes less tonal and ends in quite a bang.

Your comments will greatly be appreciated.

i just listened to the finale score and i've got to say i really like this piece. the rhythmic drive in the fast section was exciting. The subtle but constant changing in the tuba (i'm a tuba player, so i always pay extra attention to that line... by the way all F's tsk tsk ;) ) and that kept me engaged.

the only critique i have is the second return to the slow section could've used some more melodic material to keep interest up... but thats more of a personal crit. it sounded the good the way it was.

i spent most of the slow section going "i want to hear more fast section" and then you returned to it which exactly what i was hoping for. nice ending.

All tuba players will like this piece. And so do I (trumpet). Great music all of the six minutes. Good use of the ensamble, you can be proud of this! / BR Tomas F.
