DYNAMICS and PHRASING, in addition it's not all that ideomatically written, theres nothing really unique to the instruments being done. it also looks as if it were written by a pianist. This is not to say there's anything BAD with the piece, only that it is very diatonic, short and therefore predictable.

Um, what? Sorry, I'm new to the composing thing, so I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say. Do I need to add dynamics and clarify the phrasing?

Can you elaborate? What would be idiomatic and what in particular makes this one not so? I'm confident that it's not idiomatically written as I was just making a good sound rather than following any rules or styles (because I don't know any). ;)

Meaning, it doesn't cater to the strengths and weaknesses of the instrument?

I wish I were a pianist, then I'd probably have an easier time with theory. The only instrument I play is the flute.

I seem to be all questions today. Can you specify what you mean by "very diatonic"? I would expect that with nothing but the key of C major, but I'm not entirely sure how that makes it predictable.
