A Summer Prelude(A short piece for concert band)

This piece basically shows the end of winter, and then a beautiful melody by the horns takes over leading to the beginning of summer, and the piece closes out during mid-summer.

actually thats what I was thinking for this piece, usually I compose harder music, but this piece was good, and by the way I think you default and signature is awesome

Way, way too much doubling. You can't justify separate parts if they're all playing the same thing.

The trumpet solo has some awkward ties where you could simply have quaver/crotchet/quaver.

Otherwise, nice. The middle section with less doubling is far more convincing than the rest.

Some pretty good stuff. I agree, there is way too much doubling, and the middle section is definitely the best portion. The ending, where the woodwinds hold out the F over the changing chords, is pretty cool too. As rautavaara said, the trumpet solo could use some changing around, because the ties are totally unnecessary and make it look more confusing than it really is. Also, the note at 37 would be a tuning nightmare for most ensembles (as would the passage leading up to it, though it is quick enough to mask it)
