Solos?

Featured Replies

I think we should have a monthly solo competition. Each week, a new instrument can be featured. Entrants would have to write a solo for that instrument with piano accompaniment. More rules to come. I want to see how many people would be willing to participate before I make a long post about it.

If theres piano accompliment, wont it be a duet instead of solo? I'm sorta interested.......

I'd do it if you included improvised solos.

Sure, it sounds like a pretty cool idea to me. Just let us know when you're ready to start...

I guess if you notated it? But I guess that wouldn't really be improv then. So you would just write the piano part? That wouldn't work. But you could have portions of a song be improv.

I think he means recorded solos...

I might be interested, depends on the instrument.

why have accompaniment? You have to be alot craftier to make something interesting for something unaccomanied.

I'll do it, I just started a cool latin jazz thing for my band(me and my friends started a jazz band)

I didn't mention that I would be interested.. if we didn't have to make piano accompaniment.

For each instrument that we feature, we should find an instrumentalist that is willing to perform the winning piece. That would be neato.

I was thinking I would make accompaniment optional.

And that would be pretty cool.
