April 10, 200619 yr So, I'm writing a string quartet. I didn't think it belonged anywhere except here because what I want to talk about is the second movement: it's like a mini-concerto-movement thing. The first violin operates in a solo capacity. What is your favorite violin-featuring piece that uses extended techniques such as harmonics, ponticello and sul ponticello writing, new pizzicatti, and glissandi? My personal favorite is Brian Ferneyhough's "Terrain."
