Jupiter & Mars

These are my first "serious" compositions for orchestra.

You have some very interesting melodies. The opening in Jupiter was beautiful, actually. It seems like your pieces would be very very well written if their melodies had a bit stronger of harmonies. It just seems like some notes are missing from some chords. As of first orchestral compositions, these are pretty good! (much better than my first, I'll tell you that!)

But I'd really say that your composition would benefit from fuller harmonies. Have woodwinds double each other at octaves. (I.E. Flutes C-E and Clarinets an octave lower with Oboes C-G and Bassoons an octave lower). Strings too.

My advice is probably not the best since I haven't any formal composition classes yet. But if you can harmonize more, I know these pieces could be great.

Thanks for your interest and advices. I'm taking progress slowly, and my experiments on harmony are still continuing.
