The Beast-Chiken!!! My 1st CD!!!

Hello world. My first attempt of a CD... why not? SYS65 and smueske have one...

I call it "The Beast-Chiken" ("La Gallina Bestial") hahaha, there is not especific reason. The tracks dont have name, if you wan to call one (or all) your name will be welcome ^^

The suggested tracks (who show the diferent styles of the CD) are marked with blue (thanks Bretterfly):

This "CD" is more like a demo of what kid of "popular" music I compose, and my style in this kind of music... if you like it please tell me and I will a real one :p

how play the guitar(s) ? .... I hear some mixed styles, I won't be easy for "normal people" to take your music .... It could be a soundtrack ....

There are many elements in this piece, (not like others ....haha :D) ... I think I need to listen to it several times, ....

I'd suggest picking the tracks that best reflect your CD, or the ones that best shows the diversity of it, and indicating those as the ones to listen to for people who don't have the time to listen to all of them. I briefly listened to each one, and they sound great for a rave, dance party, or something. It's not really my taste, but it was fun to listen to. I really like how the sixth one changes from lounge music to funk. They all sound like they were put together well. For a first CD, the overall sound is diverse enough to appeal to a lot of people, I think. I'd like to see the cover when you get around to it!

Jose, I'll try to listen to it and comment as I go.

The first track, honestly, is really weak. The opening guitar sound is about as dead as they come and it's repetitious and doesn't go anywhere. The drum sounds need a lot more effort to flesh them out. I dig the light keyboard sound and that orchestral "hit" is pretty cool.

The second track has moments that I like but feels like the same 4 or 5 passages just in a different order, sometimes items 1 and 5, sometimes 2, sometimes 1, 3 and 5. It has no sense of development and the transitions are really weak.

The third track is interesting for the first half -- then it suffers from the same problem as song #2. Composing for song-based electronica is more than just reordering the same parts. You have to consider transitions, changing keys, working with rhythmic motifs, etc. Were this mine, I'd kill the entire second half and continue from the first half of the song, which is actually quite interesting.

did you actually conceived it as an Album ? or you just putted together the first 8 tracks you found on your PC ? ....

Like I said, I have to listen several times ... so I'm still on Track 1 :

the structure is half random, lnot very much like a song itself, but I think is ok, because is not a singing song. The orchestral sounds good, are they samples too or you use an orchestra library (GPO, EWQLSO) ?

The theme can be less repetitive if you change of tonality, for instance from that C-Db to F-Gb .... (you would need to stretch the guitar samples) because the lack of "new events" in the harmony makes you wish to listen the next track before finishing the 1st one. Also "trimbre" changes would be nice, the main motif is always played with the same sound, like putting a motif always in the violins and you have the rest of the orchestra ....(well, it's just I usually handle the synths like an orchestra my thread "A Genre problem" is about that)....

ok, now I'm in Track 2 (I did listen the 1st complete...haha)

This could be a nice "game soundtrack" .... the guitar samples are very similar to 1st track, (are not the same ? ) .... move that track away from the 1st one in the Album order, ...

In the middle of the song is (what I consider) a mistake:

There is some "touching feelings romantic" strings mixed with the "tough guy" guitar ... come on man .... what is that ? (arregla eso'mbre!!! :laugh: ) .... I do believe is out of place.:rolleyes: + :smithy: = :laugh: ....

the slap bass sounds good.

Track 3:

ok, the begining of this one sounds completely like "Belanova - Tus ojos" .... then (sorry to say) "amateur sounds" like the guy of "Sentidos Opuestos" ... a synth-beginner...

Later on the song is a little better .... but this has not the quality of tracks 1 and 2 .... absolutely not.

track 4 ?... don't worry I'll be back ...

You think that was kinda "rude" ?... I hope I wasn't too nasty with him...but it's true, those two elements don't assemble very well.

I don't agree with you on that, but it was pretty funny. I listen to a lot of progressive metal and guitars and strings are mixed all the time.

I hope he's just taking a vacation and not hurt ... the thing is, if you're going to give it you have to be able to take it. It's all part of the "public experience" of workshopping pieces.

Of course Strings + elec guitar can be done, it's just I heard 2 main feelings that contradict themselves and makes your attention to hesitate on which one of those are you going to pay attention.

the IV major in minor tonalities always sound good, :thumbsup:

(I'll turn you all tired with this but) is very short .... the main idea is good but there's no development, at all. (short song, short comment)

Track 5:

Percussionist showed up in time for the concert, but the rest of musicians arrived late, what a irresponsible guys ... :) .....

The intro is too long, .... well, when the real content starts sounds good, the chromatic chord proressions is good, but ......aaaaaaa development man development ...

Looks like your album will be a multi-style compilation, I think must an score of that no ? ... if it is, post it would you ....

The guitars is not very much in the jazz like the others but, naaaaa it's ok,
