A Journey Home

This piece written for Oboe duet (and yes, I realize they ARE written on the same staff) with piano accompaniment was originally intended to be a piano solo. I wrote out the entire piano part first and thought that it was a bit plain. I sat and thought of different things to add on and off for at least 6 months. Then, today I happened to open this file (for the first time since like...March?) and it hit me... OBOE. So, this is what I came up with.

Hey! I listened to this after you listened to my violin piece. Thanks for that, by the way?

Alright, here's what I have to say:

It has a very pop/Jon-Schmidt feel to it. Not that it's a bad thing, but not reeeeally to my taste. It was an enjoyable listen, though, I'd love to hear this live. Sounds like something I'd put at the end of a movie!

I'm glad you used oboe, since it's really a great instrument for this. I'd have rolled my eyes if you tried to do this piece with two flutes, so props to you for that! :D Overall, a well written piece.

There're a couple things you may want to fix though: the grouping of your rhythms (piano chords, in particular) could be more clear. Also, I suggest you re-notate the two oboe parts on separate staves...above the piano staves. :)

Other than that, good work. Not something I'd normally listen to, but you have my approval, haha.

I agree that it sounds very pop-ish, but could be used as a nice change of pace at a small recital. I really enjoyed it! Keep up the good work.

I thought that was amazing! I loved the melodies, and the accompagnements. One thing you should change would be a few of the oboes chords, and I didn't like the piano from bar 10 to 19, to repetitive which got me bored.

Excellent job!
