Atacama

Featured Replies

Hi there, this is my first post and my first piano piece. I am a new graduate student at UNLV, and spent a few months working on this.

Atacama is located along the Pacific coastline of South America, and is often credited as being the driest place on earth.

The piece was performed by Dr. Mio Aoike, though she only had about 1 month to prepare. Any technical help would be most appreciated.

Thank you!!!

Edit: Here is the link to the recording.

You can load midi files, but not mp3. I suggest box.net since you have to have an external source. I'll listen once you post it!

Thanks Vince.

Wow, great sound, great score; is so cool play the pices that you compose, there is nothing like that.

About the song: Hummm, I dont like it, but is a great job, i like the freedom of the song, i like -love- some parts of it, the independient nucles; but i think that dont have much to see one an other, like very individual songs i like it and i love it, but are, are so much seemed one an other to be like a break in the song.

I dont like it like a complete song; but i love the parts of the song, i love it like very songs. Grat Job.

(maybe this song can by a rhapsody, no?, and as a song formed of very songs is a complete song that i love)

and i can hear your breath, i love that.

Yes, it does maneuver through several small independent movements throughout the piece. Usually it is unified only by the returning opening sequence. Occasionally, there are more "hidden" phrases that re-occur. Where it is strong in freedom, like you say, it does lack a sense of complete unity. I think for this piece, I'm okay with that trade off. Thank you for the input.

yes yes, the song is perfect like is; i think that a finished song never be modificate, because they are perfect like are

Yes, a series of small songs within the same concert would be a great way to present this piece (perhaps even more so if each movement was lengthened).
