August 5, 200917 yr And if you continue to be discourteous to those who are taking an interest in your work, don't expect to get any constructive feedback. I lose count of the number of people who neglect to provide a score with submissions and then get cross when others quite rightly ask them to do so, as outlined in the forum guidelines. The reason for my request is not because I am somehow lacking in any musical or critical faculty, but because simply listening to a sound file is inadequate for providing constructive criticism. Without a score, I don't know the instrumentation of your piece; I therefore can't see if it is idiomatically written or if there are any difficult passages. I can't see how your piece is structured; I can't see voice-leading, counterpoint, orchestration, and, most importantly, I can't give the bar number of anything I'm describing. It really doesn't take very long to upload a Pdf or link to somewhere- even a Sibelius or Finale file is better than nothing. It's a shame to have to write this because I had some quite positive things to say about your composition.

It's a shame to have to write this because I had some quite positive things to say about your composition. after 1500 posts i necessarily am well aware of the general rules of this forum, and after all i understood that tecnical advice is not what i am looking for. so, a score is perfectly unuseful. i am only interested about how my music impressed you in a general way. if i give you a score you will lose your time and mine pointing out parallel fifths, wrong inversions, bad cadences and so on, things that my music show plenty of exemples, because i don't follow traditional and strict rules of composition. i really don't care at all if i broke all rules of composition. my interest is to learn about its final effect. besides, the structure of a given piece does not need a score to be understood, and the feelings that the simple listening arise on you don't depend on written notes either. why then we don't deal with the basic essence of the musical experience - the act of listening - and talk after it? if a friend of yours asked you to share your impressions about a music you heard on the radio or tv what would you do? would you ask a score to the broadcasting agency? i don't think so. just do the same what you would along an informal chat with a friend. thanks
August 5, 200917 yr A propos of the above discussion, most scoring software can convert a midi file into a score. For a simple short piece as this, Finale makes quite a decent score. On to the piece itself, I really liked it. It has a very delicate introspective mood. The style has a blend of modern and ancient with a few places reminding me a little of John Dowland. Well done.

August 6, 200917 yr if you can't rely on your ears, sensibility and intelligenge, a score won't help. I'd rather have only a score and no sound, thats what i call intelligent :D It sounded a little random to me. You succeeded very well in a neo ars nova kind of thing, like a troubadour with one instrument transposed a wrong direction. But the incidental double voicings and the strange 5/8 struck me as random and I could find the reason thereof.
August 6, 200917 yr Nice work. I would like to hear more variation in the musical ideas. You've got the syncopation and an understanding of connecting one note to another (Rules are made to be broken after learning to adhere to them.) So, I guess you are going for ..What are you going for? What is your focus? Goal? Purpose? Porpoise:)?
