I think he means you're on your way to developing your own voice, but not quite there yet. To me it sounds like fantastical 19th century theatrical or dramatic music, like for an interlude or something (the piece or orchestra).

You are right : the style is not contemporary. Till now, it was natural to me, and I had to bear in mind that my audience (family, friends) has no inclination for contemporary music. My coming to the net is recent and now I am composing for orchestra and for a duet
