Piano Impromptu No. 1 in D-Minor

Featured Replies

Been hard at work the last few days writing this piece with little to no sleep. It's in sonata form but much of the piece is improvisational in nature. I may write a few more pieces/movements at a later time and publish as a impromptu/sonata set but for now I like the piece on its own.

I hope you all enjoy it.

I like it. Is your MP3 a live recording? even better.

Looking at the score... It is okay to change keys.

Well I do like your writing style a lot, but i have to agree with royhoobler you should try to change keys somewhere in there so it brings something new to listener and they feel pleased. Also a thing that I would like to hear out of you cause you do such great development maybe expand those sections because I think you can get a lot more out of this. But, again very nice piece

Understand where you're coming from royhoobler and fegane, the D-Minor theme can be a little repetitive. I'm self-taught and that's my second piece for piano so I'm getting better as time progresses. Look for more development and motifs in the pieces to come. Thanks for listening!

I love it. Very nice melodies and smooth flowing transitions. I will have to jump on the bandwagon and say that the main melody does get repetetive, but hey, considering this is only your second piece for piano, I think it's amazing. Awesome work!

It's wonderful!!

And trust me when I tell you that I don't say this very often... :)

It's beautifully flowing, and contains lovely melodies & Ideas. I'd love to listen to your future stuff, because you're composition is awesome!

The main theme is a little repetetive at times, but I loved it enough to not care... :D

Great job!!!

By the way, you could make it sound a little less repetetive by playing the main theme piano somtimes, and not always forte.

The comments I read so far nearly all said the same: the melody is repetitive. Why should this be a problem? Judging by my record on comments here on this site, one could say I do not comment much and very rarely have said pieces are good. From your impromptu I would very much like to have the score. I have tried to print it, but got blank pages.

Your idea to add other pieces as to build an impromptu/sonate is something I would not advice. Furthermore, you could consider it a prelude, to which you could add other preludes to get a booklet. I would leave it the way it is, as a seperate piece.

In short: feeling quite favourite toward your composition, I might consider it to play as an encore, but will PM you with further details regarding.
