Sometimes scores such as "Apple - Dump Truck - Big Penis" (one actually used for my band) are enough to jog the memory; other times strict notation is necessary because it's for unrelated groups. Plus, you can't deny that there's more than the beginnings of a culture of graphic notation... certain concepts are taken as givens, unless otherwise noted. Doubleplus, one could accentuate the composer-performer-audience dynamic by messing with that information flow regarding notation. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But with traditional notation you can't get the kind of things you can get with the newer forms of notation such as visuals, so on and so forth. So in some ways, its not as direct as modern notation.
